A Shady Cove woman died Thursday morning after her car crashed into a stopped tow truck on Highway 62 near milepost 16, according to a release from Oregon State Police.
Argelia Avina, 45, was traveling west when she reached two tow trucks stopped in the right westbound lane. One tow truck was hitching up a disabled vehicle and the second was stopped behind it, with the driver directing traffic to merge into the left westbound lane.
Avina did not shift out of the right lane and her 2006 Chevy Aveo crashed into the second parked tow truck at about 9:30 a.m. She died while being airlifted by Mercy Flights to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.
Jackson County Fire District 3, Mercy Flights and ODOT assisted OSP with the response to the crash.
