Victim's credo: 'Live fast or die trying'

Investigators have identified a 23-year-old Wimer resident whose credo on social media included "live fast or die trying" as the man who died Friday when his motorcycle crashed into a concrete wall north of Rogue River.

Adam Christopher Haupt, of the 700 block of Covered Bridge Road, was driving his 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the 3500 block of East Evans Creek Road shortly before 11 p.m. Friday when the motorcycle left the roadway on a curve and crashed into a concrete block wall, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

Haupt suffered extensive injuries in the crash, and the impact dislodged his helmet, deputies said. A passerby stopped to render aid shortly after the crash and telephoned 911, deputies said.

Emergency crews closed the roadway for about three hours during the investigation, deputies said.

Sheriff's Sgt. Julie Denney said investigators were unsure whether speed was a factor and did not know why Haupt's motorcycle left the roadway. A routine toxicology screen will be conducted as part of the investigation, deputies said.

Haupt's Facebook page lists him as a Pennsylvania native who graduated from high school there in 2013. His Facebook page lists his nickname as "Turk" and his favorite quote as, "Keep it 100% live fast or die trying Amen."

"Loved by many, gone way too soon," friend Andy Cook of Pennsylvania wrote on Haupt's Facebook page earlier today. "I will always cherish all of my memories with you."
