UPDATE, 3:40 p.m.: All lanes are open, ODOT says.
CENTRAL POINT — An RV caught fire on the Interstate-5 north of Central Point late Friday morning in the southbound lane near Exit 35, Blackwell Road.
An elderly couple on a road trip from Washington was driving up a hill when their RV lost electrical power. When they pulled over on the side of the highway, they saw flames.
One southbound lane is closed, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. Traffic is moving slowly and is backed up for more than two miles.
ODOT advises travelers to watch out for active fire crews. The flames have been put out, but clean up on the scene continues.
Oregon State Police, Fire District 3, and ODOT all responded to the scene.
