Rep. Duane Stark

Rep. Stark named House whip

Rep. Duane Stark, R-Grants Pass, has been elected by his peers to serve as the Republican caucus whip, according to a release from the Oregon House Republican Office.

In his second term, Stark previously served as the deputy whip. He will succeed Rep. Jodi Hack, who announced Monday she would be leaving the Legislature to pursue a private sector opportunity.

Stark said in the release that he looks forward to forging "bipartisan cooperation with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle."

"There is a lot at stake in the 2018 legislative session, and I am excited to get to work,” he said.

Stark serves a member of the Human Services and Housing Committee, Judiciary Committee and Ways and Means Committee. He is also the co-chair of the Joint Ways and Means SubCommittee on Public Safety.

Rep. Stark represents House District 4, which includes Central Point, White City, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Rogue River and portions of Grants Pass.

The 2018 legislative session will begin on Feb. 5, 2018.
