An annual event intended to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association returns Friday, May 11.
And for anyone who wants to be involved, it’s as easy as ordering a cup of coffee.
Drink One For Dane will be held all day at the more than 300 Dutch Bros coffee stands across seven states. All proceeds from sales that day will be donated to the MDA, which specializes in research of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and family support services.
Last year, the Grants Pass-based company raised more than $970,000 in the event.
“Committed to finding a cure for ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) Dutch Bros is eyeing the $1 million mark this year,” a statement in a news release reads.
In its 12th year, the event was started for Dane Boersma, who co-founded Dutch Bros with his brother Travis. Dane was diagnosed with ALS in 2007, and later died in 2009.
“The Dutch Bros family lost Dane to the incurable disease but carried on with the annual fundraising campaign as a testament to his indomitable spirit and inspiring positive attitude,” the release says.
