Since You Asked: Del Taco will come back for seconds

I happened to notice while driving down Highway 62 that Del Taco has a sign over the original sign saying "Opening Soon."

Does this mean we get a second chance? Or has another establishment taken over the building and will be the ones opening soon?

Indeed, Michelle, you've got a second chance to order those crispy fish tacos and crinkle cut fries. A company spokesperson for the Lake Forest, Calif.-based Mexican restaurant chain said Del Taco at 2860 Crater Highway is slated to reopen next month with a new franchisee and new management.

QSR Food of Grants Pass opened shop in December 2006 then abruptly shuttered the high-volume location in January 2009. The circumstances behind the closure were never publicly explained and even a Del Taco corporate spokesperson told the Muddy Tributary in early 2009 then that headquarters officials were unaware the Medford store had closed.

Representatives of QSR Food never offered any explanation (nor bothered to return any phone calls, for that matter).

Gary Winnen of Cactus Enterprise, whose sons Mike and Steven along with other family members operate Del Taco restaurants in Albany and Salem will open the rejuvenated location around Aug. 7.

Del Taco locations usually have staffs of between 20 and 25.
