No more ballfields at US Cellular Community Park

We love U.S. Cellular Community Park and have been wondering whether any new expansions are planned for the facility in the near future?

— No name given

We have it on good authority — well the authority when it comes to city parks — that development of the 132-acre, $32 million site that boasts 15 sports fields is mostly wrapped up.

"The park has reached a substantial completion," said Rich Rosenthal, interim director for the Medford Parks and Recreation Department.

But, Rosenthal adds, two projects of note are still planned. The department is working with the group Southern Oregon Veterans Benefits to erect a scale version of the Vietnam Memorial wall near Coyote Trails Nature Center. Money is still being raised, but Rosenthal said the site has been reserved for the project.

The parks department is also looking to work with the Medford Rogues baseball team to pave the south parking lot of Harry & David Field.
