Naumes another victim of the recession

It looks like Naumes Oregon Motorsports has closed for good. The owner said he was hoping to reopen after closing his doors in June. What's the scoop?

Your observation is correct, Tony, Naumes Oregon Motorsports at 2233 S. Pacific Highway is permanently out of business, a casualty of the recession.

Sam Naumes and daughter, Sarah Primerano, are in the process of selling 83 remaining motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles, as well as parts.

When Bank of the Cascades declined to renew the company's line of credit, Naumes said, "That was the final kiss of death."

Until the beginning of September, the company still was doing repair work and selling parts. Service work and parts sales are finished, Naumes said. But until the remaining ATVs and bikes are shipped back to the manufacturers, they are available "basically at invoice," he said.

There are no business hours, but Naumes still is winding down the operation and looking for tenants to occupy one of two buildings the company owns.

People interested in the bikes can call the company at 541-772-6223.

His daughter will move on to another job, Naumes said.

But as for him?

"I have no clue what I'm going to do. I haven't started to think in those terms."
