Wayne D. Lemley, a true and faithful servant of the Lord, took the hand of Jesus on May 18, 2012. He was born to Jeff H. Lemley and Grace T. (Simmons) Lemley on September 27, 1931 in Canute, Okla. Proceeding him in death were his parents and older brother, Alphia L. Lemley. Wayne was a popular stock car racer in the Ashland, Ore., area in the 1950s and his grandson continues to carry on Wayne's love of racing with the quote, "Grandpa has taken the checkered flag of life and is now in Victory Lane collecting his trophy."
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Charolette J. Lemley, of Roseburg, Ore.; daughters, Janice (Lemley) Christmas, and husband, Gene, of Roseburg, and Manuella (Lemley) Rosenberger, and husband, Anthony, of Roseburg; son, Arlen Lemley, and wife, Kelly, of Medford, Ore.; eight grandchildren and spouses; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Cleatis D. Lemley, and wife, Alice, of Florence, Ore., and Doyce C. Lemley, and wife, Donna, of Princeton, Texas; sister-in law, Clarice Lemley, of Yoncalla, Ore.; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; and last but not least his brothers and sisters in Christ throughout this nation and the world.
Wayne and Charolette were married in 1949 and moved from Ashland to Roseburg in 1958 to pursue his work with Farm Bureau Insurance. Later, he owned a service station and insurance agency with two brothers; he was well known in Roseburg as a broker/owner of Downtown Realty, and a part owner of Wigwam Homes Construction with his brother, Doyce. He loved sport/commercial salmon fishing at Winchester Bay, Ore., and many other endeavors. He lived his passion for the past 25 years of spreading the gospel, traveling to the Ukraine and India many times to help establish churches, orphanages and teaching schools to train other ministers for the Lord's work.

India work Wayne loved so much.
Funeral service will be Friday, May 25, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at the I-5 Church of Christ. Visitation will be Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg.
