Virgil Steven Miller

Virgil Steven Miller, 64, of Central Point, Ore. passed away at his parents' home in White City, Ore. February 9, 2013. He was the first of six children, born November 23, 1948, to his parents Virgil Eugene and Lillian Miller in Myrtle Point, Ore.

Virgil moved to the Rogue Valley with his family in 1959. He attended and graduated from Eagle Point High School. After graduation he went to work for Sprint Telephone Company in White City, Ore. installing phone lines.

Virgil then went to work for Wayne Marshall at the Forest Service running a grader, blading forest service roads. He enjoyed the outdoors and the country and worked there for several years. Virgil worked for a variety of companies over the years such as West Brook of Brookings, Ore., a logging company in Grants Pass, L & M in White City, Mustard Seed in White City, and Martins Transportation Company, also in White City.

Virgil worked several years at Martins Transportation Company and enjoyed his work with the men and his boss, Tracy Axhill. He loved driving and did not want to quit, but bad health forced him to do so. Tracy told him Your keys and truck are still here.'

Virgil loved the outdoors; fishing, gold panning, and just going for rides with friends, and he loved hearing from his friends on the phone. Virgil was a member of the Red Rock Cowboy Church.

Virgil was predeceased by his father Virgil and grandparents.

Virgil will be remembered by his mother and stepdad, Lillian and Elmer Juedes; sister, Lori (Arnold) Magnuson, of White City, Ore.; brother, Dale Miller and family, of Shady Cove, Ore.; sister, Sherrill (Paul) Osusky, of White City, Ore.; brother, Chuck Miller and family, of Central Point, Ore.; sister, Becky (Jeff) Phebus, of Arlington, Wash.; half-brother, Stan Miller and family, of Crescent City, Calif.; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. They all had good times together.

Virgil loved his aunts and uncles and enjoyed talking with older people. He said he enjoyed and learned from all their old time stories.'

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., February 23, 2013, at Rock Point Cemetery in Gold Hill, Ore. Lunch will follow at Red Rock Cowboy Church on Meadows Road in Sams Valley.
