On Saturday, December 12, 2009, the God who created her called Stella Wright, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, to her eternal home. She was born Stella Pelerin, on October 6, 1906, in Larry's River, Nova Scotia, Canada, and lived most of her 103 years in Canada, Massachusetts and California before retiring with her husband to Ashland, Ore., to be near their children.
Stella was preceded in death by Milton Wright, her loving husband of 57 years, and by siblings Alvin, Albert, Andrew, Clement, Harold, Howard, Josie, Lester, Leonard, Martin, Ethel and Genny. She is survived by her daughters, Pauline (Gary) Afseth, of Ashland, Ore., and Ellen (Peter) Notehelfer, of Camano Island, Wash.; her brother, Frank Pelerin, of Larry's River, Nova Scotia; her grandchildren, Jeff (Amelia) Carchidi, Joshua (Conner) Notehelfer, Jessica Notehelfer, and Karl (Kristen) Stuckenberg; and great-granchildren, Kayla and Kendal Stuckenberg.
A memorial service for family and close friends was held in the chapel at Perl Funeral Home, Medford, on December 16, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. We cherish the memory of Stella's sweet disposition, sparkling sense of humor and deep love for her family. She is greatly missed.
The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care Stella received in her final years from her foster care family, Sarah McFall, Kaleb and Anita at Compassionate Care of Medford.
