Shirley M. Clason Crammer

Shirley Margaret Clason Crammer was born eigth in a family of nine children to Lewis "Doc" Clason and Nellie V. Smith Clason, on December 12, 1913, on their N.W. Kansas homestead. She attended the one-room "Dry Ridge" primary school and graduated from Long Island High School, in Long Island, Kan., in 1931.

In May of 1931, she eloped with Louis Stanley Crammer, and they were married by the Decatur County, Kan., Court Magistrate. The family lived in Phillips County, Kan., and Craig, Colo., before moving to the Rogue Valley area in 1940. Shirley was a homemaker, raising her five children and participating in all the usual farm work. She liked to cut wood, and helped with haying and all manner of chores. In 1955, the family moved to Butte Falls, Ore., where Louis was employed as a timber faller.

Shirley and Louis were active in their churches in Ruch, the Community Bible Church in Central Point, Ore.; The Community Church in Butte Falls, Ore.; and she was an active member of Grace Church in Central Point at the time of her passing. She helped in youth ministries, women's missionary groups, and the hospitality committee. She was committed to daily Bible reading and prayer for family, friends, and the world throughout her life. Shirley's life has been an anchor to her family and an example of unconditional love to anyone who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Louis; her parents; and her eight siblings, Ruth, infant brother (unnamed), June, Adolphus, Catherine, Lewis, Horace, and Iris.

She is survived by her sons, K. Douglas Crammer (Grace), of Phoenix, Ariz.; Phillip Louis Crammer (Charlotte), of Klamath, Calif.; daughters, Nelda B. Crammer Edwards (Delbert Gene), and Bobbie L. Crammer; both of Central Point, Ore.; and Susan M. Crammer Wood (John), of Winston, Ore.; 14 grandchildren, Mark Douglas Crammer, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Janet L. Vogel (Vernon), of Rockville, M.D.; Stanley Craig Edwards, of Johnson City, N.Y.; David Warner Edwards (Helen), of Apache Junction, Ariz.; Suzanne Matthews; Jeremy Crammer Himber, of Missoula, Mont.; Rebecca L. Crammer, of Phoenix, Ore.; Gordon Woodruff, of New Orleans, La.; Melissa Laver (John), of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Barbara Murrey (Mike); Paul Woodruff, of Redding, Calif.; Angela Woodruff, of Klamath, Calif.; Sara M. Wood Lounsbury (Jeff), of Cedar Creek, Texas; and Jenni R. Wood Hallack (Ken), of Seattle, Wash.; 35 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews (4 deceased) across the nation.

Mom will be missed by all. We also celebrate her joining with Jesus and other loved ones in heaven.

As Shirley wished, there will be a graveside service for family and close friends on Monday, August 1, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Memory Gardens; and a memorial gathering for all who would like to share in September, date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Grace Church, 100 Oak St., Central Point, OR 97502. These will be divided among Shirley's favorite missions.
