Ruth Janetta Jones

August 14, 1923 – May 23, 2018

Ruth J. Jones, 94, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was born in Okemah, Oklahoma to Jessie and Ollie Millsap.

Ruth grew up in Okemah, Okla., with her three brothers, Jessie, Don and Dean and sister, Cora. She graduated from Okemah High School in 1942 where she loved to play basketball for her school.

She met the love of her life when she was 15 years old, and married JP May 23, 1942. They moved to California and Ruth opened her business, Ruth’s Fashions in 1957. In 1973 they decided to move to Medford, Oregon to a ranch on Fern Valley where they raised cattle. From there, they moved to Eagle Point, Ore. to another little ranch, and decided to raise pygmy goats. They called the ranch Shasta Blue Pygmy Ranch.

Ruth also ran her antique store and volunteered for several years at the Eagle Point Senior Center where she successfully ran their thrift store.

Ruth and JP sold their ranch in 2002 and moved back to Medford, Ore., to finally retire at the age of 80.

Ruth was a loving wife, precious mom, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. JP and her children were very fortunate to be by her side during her last days. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on her and JP’s wedding anniversary, May 23, 2018.

She is survived by her loving husband, JP; her son, David; daughters, Pat and Deb; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Linda Kay and Vicki Mae; her dad and mom; brother, Jessie; and sister, Cora.

We would like to thank Dr. Travis McNeal and his staff for all their kindness. We also want to thank Footsteps Adult Care Home where she was treated with respect and dignity by Rita, Pam, Melissa W., Melissa Sue, Kelly, Charlotte, and Nadine.

A private celebration of her precious life will be held July 14, 2018. You will always be in our hearts.
