1933 - 2018
Russ was born November 9, 1933 in Neshanic, New Jersey to Alex and Antonnia Nahirny. His parents were immigrants from Europe and became US citizens. They had a small country home and chicken business. This is where Russ became a hard worker at a young age.
He married young and had two sons, Rusty and David. Later, he divorced.
I met Russ in San Jose, California in 1979, and we married in 1981.
Russ was a mechanical engineer at F.M.C., and he was on the original design team for the Bradley Tank. The team took the tank to Fort Ord and watched it perform its testing.
Russ enjoyed golf and was a member of the Ashland Gun Club and the Elks. He also loved to garden and build, and he could fix anything.
We moved to Ashland in 1989, built our retirement home, and became members of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church. The members made us feel so welcome, and 29 years flew by.
My life with Russ was so special. He was a wonderful, fun man. We had many wonderful travels, met folks, and made more friends.
I will miss forever this kind man, but one day we will be together again.
He is survived by his wife, Dottye; sons, Russ (Virginia) and Dave (Chris); stepsons, Rich (Marlis) and Brent; and grandchildren, Paige, Sarah, and Nate.
