Roy S. Dodd, Jr.

Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Big Poppy, Pops, Junior, "Roy" Dodd was born March 29, 1921 in Owensville, Ind., to Roy S. Dodd, Sr. and Eva (Garrett) Dodd. He moved to the Yoncalla, Ore. vicinity in 1927 with his parents and three brothers, Jim, Pid & Max who all preceded him in death. There the family farmed & logged prior to, and after, his military service during WWII in the Army Air Force.

Roy married the love of his life, Juanita "June" (Morningstar) Dodd on Jan. 2, 1943 while in the service at Fairfield, Ohio. June and their three children, Nancy Alner of Longview, Wash., Darwin Dodd of Gold Hill, Ore. and Chuck Dodd of Everett Wash., all survive Roy along with son-in-law Bill Alner, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In 1966, Roy and his family moved to Central Point, Ore., where he purchased a grocery store and touched the lives of every patron, friend and family member that walked through the doors of his "J & J Market" and his home. Dad was an instant friend to all who met him. He loved the outdoors, hunting & fishing, especially with mom after they retired from the market. He was quick with a smile and quicker with a fishing or old logging "tale"! He will be missed, but forever remembered by all who knew him. We all love you dad!
