Roger C. 'Bunky' Hall

Friends of Roger "Bunky" Hall were saddened to hear he had passed away at his home in Ashland, Ore., on November 17, 2011. He was born in Ashland, Ore., on May 4, 1930, to Mercy Eleanor (Alexander) and Claud Francis Hall, the last of eight children.

All his school years were in Ashland, where he graduated in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in June 1950.

Roger married the love of his life, Nancy Arney, on July 28, 1950. She is the daughter of Marie and Harold Arney.

In December 1950, they moved to Klamath Falls, Ore., when Roger was hired as a groundman for the California-Oregon Power Company. While living there, their three children were born; George Roger, Melinda Lou and Mark William.

He subsequently became a lineman and then transferred to the marketing department. In 1964, he was transferred to the Medford office of Pacific Power and Light Company. The Halls lived in Ashland until 1971, when they were transferred to Pendleton, Ore. They were transferred to Lakeview, Ore., in 1978, where they made many new friends while staying in touch with old friends.

Roger retired from Pacificorp in 1989 while living in Lakeview. Over the years, he loved playing his piano for relaxation, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and his boys. He learned how to build muzzle loaders. Nancy and Roger remodeled several homes, then decided it would be easier to build new, so they ended up building four homes.

Bunky was always willing to lend a hand and share a laugh. He will be missed.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Roger (Cindy) Krumdieck, of Monmouth, Ore., Melinda (Dave) Slatt, of Pendleton, Ore., Mark (Sue) Knouff, of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Anjanette Hall, Ryan Hall, Christopher Barnhart, Adam Hall, Travis Hall, Michelle Armon and Jennifer Armon; nieces and nephews, Lynn Garrett Hallock, Sandy Garrett, Judy Hall Ode, James Hall and Claud Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Jasper, Sidney, James and Jack; and sisters, Marjorie Coppinger and Sally Garrett.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1811 Ashland Street, Ashland, Ore. Chaplain Fred Grewe of Ashland Hospice will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to a charity of your choice.
