Robert L. Rampy

Robert L. Rampy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley L. Rampy December 11, 1924 in Three Forks Montana. His parents farmed West of Three Forks where they raised dry land wheat.

He attended grade schools in the Gallatin Valley and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1944. He was serving in the U.S. Army at the time of his graduation.

Upon returning from the Army, where he served in the ETO as an Infantryman, he met and married Fern F. Schwarz January 17, 1947. They had four sons, Lynn Rampy, Jr. of Keizer, Ore.; Ross Rampy of Ashland, Ore.; Dean Rampy of Anchorage, Alaska; and Doug Rampy of Altoona, Iowa.

Robert is survived by his wife, Fern; four sons; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Moore of Bozeman, Mont. and Roseanne Coy of Laurel, Mont.; brothers, Lee Rampy of Twin Bridges, Mont., Wallace Rampy, of Minot, N.D., and Ed Rampy of West Yellowstone, Mont.

After his marriage in 1947 he lived in Bozeman and worked at various jobs. In 1953 he became Sec. Treasurer of Teamsters Local #53 which he held for 21 years. Robert was appointed by former Montana Governor Anderson to serve on the Unemployment Commission Board of Montana.

In January 1974 he was appointed as an International Auditor for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and was assigned to work out of the San Francisco, Calif. Bay Area, where he and his family moved to in 1974. Robert held this position until he retired on Dec. 31, 1989. After a couple of years, they moved to Cave Creek, Arizona and in Jan 2001 they moved to Medford, Ore. to be near their son Ross.

While in Bozeman he was an active member of the Army Reserve Units both in Bozeman & Helena, Mt. Robert retired from the Army Reserve in May 1979 with the rank of Sergeant Major. Robert attended the Bethel Church in Medford, OR.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Rd., Eagle Point, Ore. To sign condolences; log onto
