Robert James Fleming, of Jacksonville, Ore., passed away at the age of 86. He was born February 17, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Clare Boyd Fleming and Ruth A. Fleming.
Robert grew up in Port Angeles, Wash. He married Catherine A. (Hurley) in August 1944. The couple moved to Seattle, and had two sons, Robert Eugene Fleming, and Stephen M. Fleming, and eventually settled in Jacksonville, Ore. Robert was a second lieutenant engineer in the Coast Guard, a successful businessman, and friend. To all who knew and loved Robert, they will miss his kind, warm, and generous smile, which words could never express, and he will be remembered even more.
In addition to his wife, Catherine, Robert is survived by two grandsons, Keith Martin Fleming and Eric Boyd Fleming. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Boyd Fleming; and his two sons.
A rosary will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 6:00 p.m., in the Conger~Morris Medford Chapel, and the funeral mass will be Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
