June 19, 1950 - January 29, 2018
Mr. Robert Burl Platt passed away at his home the morning of January 29, 2018. He was born June 19, 1950.
He enlisted in the United States Army February 9, 1971. He was honorably discharged November 8, 1972, after achieving the rank of PFC as a Medical Corpsman, though he rarely talked about it.
Bob was a rogue with a killer smile and an endless reserve of charm. He could shake a stranger’s hand and make a friend, and he’d invariably leave that new friend in a better mood than he found them, no matter how good their mood already was. Bob was also the consummate gentleman. He always opened the door, he always picked up the check, he knew how you wanted your coffee, and your preferred cocktail. He always treated you with respect. His smile was huge and contagious and it forced you to find the same joy in life as he did. His joy was immense and overpowering and he spread that joy and love everywhere he went.
He is survived by his four children, Eva Marie Speas, Robert Joshua Roche, Matthew Peter Platt, and Sarah Marie Platt; and his dog, Wilder “Boogie” Platt. They were the greatest pride of his life. Ask anyone who ever met him.
There will be an informal memorial in his honor from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at The Point in Central Point, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity or cause of your choice.
Now go sweep the sand off the beach so we can all hang out.
