October 2, 1931 - July 11, 2018
Richard Lee Trout passed away July 11, 2018 in Golden, Colorado with family beside him. He was born October 2, 1931 in Portland, Oregon .
Richard graduated from Santa Clara University in 1954 with a degree in economics, married Nan Kenyon Perry (his wife of nearly 62 years), and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served two years at Fort Meade, next studied languages at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, then began his 30-year career with United Airlines. UA carried “Dick” and family from SFO, to ORD, and DEN in the vanguard of computer programmers, who, in the 1970s, developed the Apollo Reservations System.
In 1983 Richard, with Nan, moved to Ashland Ore. and upon his retirement joined the Woodworkers Guild, volunteered his computer knowledge to AARP Tax Aide, and time to the City of Ashland’s budget committee and watershed monitors. Richard’s most treasured work was as a citizen steward with Oregon Shores CoastWatch.
A beloved father, he is survived by his three children, Kenyon Lee, Deborah Lynn, and Jennifer Wynne (Hack); his grandchildren and niece; and brother, Gary Jay Trout.
