1946-2009 Richard Lee Stribling will be celebrating his birthday with his beloved daughter Tonja Stribling this year. He left us on Saturday, June 13th 2009 to be sure he made it in time. Richard was born in Eldon, Iowa June 19, 1946 to Helen Irene (Edlund) Stribling and was raised in Sacramento, Calif., by his parents, Irene and Donald Stribling. Graduating from Grant Union High School in 1964, his life's journey was to take many turns. He joined the Air Force during the Vietnam era and was sent to Great Falls, Mont. Strategic Air Command, Malmstrom Air Force Base. Richard graduated from Chemeketa Community College to receive his Associates Degree in criminology. Graduating from the Police Academy at Monmouth. Then Chief of Police, Chuck Roberts took a chance on this young rookie and hired him for the Talent Police department for two years, from there he went on to work for the City of Jacksonville for nine years. While working for Jacksonville, Richard met Donna Usher and her eight year old daughter, Staci, they married Dec. 12, 1981. Richard was a man who walked to the beat of his own drum. Every bit the stearn external personality, those who knew him, knew there was a huge soft spot in his heart. He loved his dogs, some of which he will meet-up with at Rainbow Bridge. The ones he left behind to watch over his wife, Donna, are: Beranger, Berk, Roscoe, and Levi. They miss their beloved master very much. Rich was a country western boy, loved playing the harmonica, guitar, hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and even wrote an occasional poem or two. He also loved his mom, keeping a promise to his dad, that he would take care of mom. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Tonja Renee; ex-wife, Linda Stribling; his father, Donald Stribling; his aunt, Irene Stribling ,California; and a niece, Susie Hill,California. Surviving family members are his mother, Helen Irene Stribling; Medford; sister, Nancy Sue Hill, California; brother, Donald Stribling, Iowa; brother, Steven Stribling, Montana; brother, Scott Stribling, Medford; sister, Kathi Kathol, Grants Pass; step-daugther, Shirley Minnick Rayburn and son-in-law, Joe, Medford; stepson, Richard Minnick and daughter-in-law, Tammy, Oregon; stepdaughter, Staci Heywood, Medford; and his favorite uncle, Richard Stribling, California. The family wishes to thank all thoes who loved and helped Richard: Jim and Kathryn Schnell, Ray and Betty, David Pacheco, Joe and Shirley Rayburn, Jim Martin, Jim and Judy Fields, Chuck and Marie Jackson and many others.
