Richard Dee Landis, Jr., 64, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at his home in Medford, Ore. He was born March 9, 1946, in Albuquerque, N.M.
Richard served in the U.S. Army as a Spec 5 from 1964-1968. His service included two tours in Vietnam. Beginning in 1972, Richard spent 33 years as both a long haul and log truck driver, and raised his family in Medford, Ore., retiring in 2005.
Richard was an active and longtime local chapter member of both the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Richard liked to ride his motorcycle, watch cooking shows, fish, travel and camp with his family and friends. Additionally, he loved to read and cook. As the patriarch of his family, he loved everyone above all else.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce Landis; two brothers, Rod and Mike; three sisters, Linda, Sherry and Kim; son, Rick (Colleen); daughters, Samantha (Brian) Carter, and Trishia (Mike) Davis; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a cornucopia of cherished friends and loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol; and brother, David.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Veteran's Administration.
