Rachelle 'Sherri' Braun

January 31, 1945 - May 24, 2017         

While at home, after a long illness, Sherri Braun ascended to Heaven May 24, 2017. In attendance were her beloved husband, Laurin; several family members; and friends.        

Rachelle ‘Sherri’ Yvonne, the eldest child of Floyd and Mildred McCone, was born in Roswell, N.M. The McCone family moved to Southern California during Sherri’s school years. There, Sherri developed a lifelong love of the ocean and a fascination with dolphins. Sherri graduated from David Jordan High School in Long Beach, Calif. in 1963.      

Early in adulthood, she showed an adventurous spirit by becoming a Los Angeles city bus driver with a downtown city route! Later in her adult life, desiring to be nearer to family, she moved to the beautiful Rogue Valley. On June 3, 1987, she married Laurin Braun. They had a beautiful and loving relationship of more than 40 years. Between them they had five children: Tina, Todd, and Robert Vandergrind and Melinda and Ira Braun.      

Sherri is survived by: husband, Laurin; brother, Malcolm (Kathy) McCone; sisters-in-law, Loraine Harris and Deborah Braun; brother-in-law, David Braun; daughter, Melinda Braun, sons, Todd Vandergrind and Ira Braun; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.     

Sherri was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred and father, Floyd; daughter, Tina Vandergrin, and son Robert Vandergrind.      

Sherri will be remembered as an adoring daughter of God; a loving and committed wife; a warm, comforting. and lovable mother; a cherished sister; and amazing friend. The memories of her warm inviting smile will be cherished by all who had the opportunity to love her.   

A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon. Saturday, June 17, 2017, Lighthouse Family Worship Center 3500 Arrowhead Drive, Medford, OR with Pastor Richard Hargreaves officiating.
