R. Angus Todd

March 31, 1914 November 10, 2010

R. Angus Todd, 96, loved by everyone he touched, his faith in God the core of who he was, died of natural causes Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in his home, at Wynwood of Rogue Valley, Medford, Ore.

Angus was born March 31, 1914, to William Angus and Evelyn Todd, in Jamestown, N.D. The family moved to Medford in 1921. He attended both Jackson and Roosevelt elementary schools, graduating from Medford High School in 1936. When Angus was 13, he became a caddy at the Rogue Valley Country Club, often for the course designer, Chandler Eagan.

On May 28, 1938, Angus married Gladys B. Brantley, who preceded him in death a few months before their 70th wedding anniversary. His death occurred one day before Gladys' birthday. Angus left us to go celebrate with her.

Together they raised four children, Ralph Stanley (Marey), of Idyllwild, Calif., Beverly Jean (Dave) Smith, of Ukiah, Calif., Donald Angus (Georgia), of Jacksonville, Ore., and Richard Lee (Denise), of Arlington, Wash.; in addition he had nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Angus was preceded in death by his parents. He was the oldest and outlived three sisters, Edith Brantley, Eleanor Dixon and Olivia Ryerson; and three brothers, Hubert Todd, Phil Todd and Bill Todd.

In 1946, Angus began his own auto repair business in Gold Hill. He then became a barber and, in 1956, he opened the first men's appointment shop in Medford. Angus retired from barbering in 1980, and started working fulltime distributing Shaklee vitamins. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Medford.
