"Mike" passed away, Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno, at the age of 62, from complications associated with esophageal cancer.

Mike was born in Roseburg, Ore., June 9, 1947 to Art and Claudine Pollard. He lived in Roseburg until his family moved to Medford, Ore., in 1962. He played varsity basketball and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1965. He attended Southern Oregon University for two years, also playing college basketball before moving to Fresno, Calif. in 1968.

Mike is survived by his wife, Georgia; mother, Claudine Pollard; sister, Judy Pollard Dippel; mother-in-law, Marion Brand; five children, Rhonda and husband, Lou Leonardo, Andrea Pollard and husband, Karl Mason, Brian and wife, Debbie Young, Jennifer Pollard and husband, Michael Brewster, Melissa Pollard and husband, Jeff Huckaby; 12 grandchildren, Brianna, Rachel and Natalie, Joshua, Ian and Gabby, Amanda and Ashley, Caitlin and Cameron, Jody and Jade; one great-grandchild, Landon; nieces; Lindsay, Mary Ellen; and nephews, Ryan and Bobby.

For over 20 years, Mike enjoyed a career working in retail jewelry sales. The last seven years he worked for Kenny G & Company Fine Jewelers in Reno, a company he felt privileged to represent. This led to his active participation with LeTip of Reno, a professional organization of which he was a past president.

Along with his love for his wife, family, friends, and his dog, Sweetie, Mike's passion was to follow Indy 500, open-wheel racing, as his father raced in this league. Since 1990 he enjoyed Fantasy Football--it ran a close second in how he enjoyed leisure time, especially since he won in 2008. He spent many years in the River City Corvette Club when living in Sacramento.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of kindnesses and love. Mike will always be in our hearts!
