Mary Evelyn (MacQueen) Evans died at home on Aug. 20, 2009. Mary, "Mickie", was born April 21, 1923 in Salina, Kans., the third child of John Charles MacQueen and Nellie Mae Wright. The family moved to Manhattan, Kans., where Mickie attended school and graduated from Kansas State University in 1947.
Mickie married Capt. AJ Evans on Sept. 12, 1947 after he returned from WWII. In 1947, they moved to Blackfoot, Idaho where they raised their six children. Mickie was a highly respected homemaker and friend. She modeled Christ-like love and serving to all who knew her. Mickie and her husband "Jack" moved to Connecticut and then Kentucky from 1972 to 1975. They lived in Winnemucca, Nev., from 1975 to 1992 when they moved to Rogue Valley Manor in Medford, Oregon. Mickie made many dear friends in each place they lived.
Mickie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Nell Ruth Morgan. She is survived by her husband, Armstead Joseph "Jack" Evans, Jr., of Medford, Ore.; brother, Dr. John Charles MacQueen, of Iowa City, Iowa; and her six children and their families, Joseph Neil Evans, of Middleton, Idaho, John Mitchell Evans of Greenville, Calif., Peggy Marie Evans, of Denton, Texas, Barbara Ann Landon, of Elko, Nev., Marvin Lisle Evans, of Williamsburg, Va. and Anita Ruth Evans McConnell, of Albuquerque, N.M.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Rogue Valley Manor auditorium in Medford, Ore. and in Blackfoot, Idaho on September 19th. Arrangements by Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford, Ore. 773-6162 www.hillcrestmortuary.com
