On March 24, 2011, Martin Shjerve, Sr., joined his beloved wife, Irene, who passed away in January, 2011. He was born in Barton, N.D., on Dec. 12, 1914, and was one of three brothers and eight sisters.
His parents, siblings, and son, Martin Jr., preceded him in death. Martin is survived by his daughter, Twila Hunt, of Medford, Ore.; his son, Dal Shjerve, of Chewelah, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was a quiet, gentle man, loved by all he met, and we were blessed to have him in our lives.
A World War II army veteran, Martin served in Belgium and France. A memorial service will be held for family on Wednesday, March 30, at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Special thanks to "A Touch of Grace" care facility, Dr. Alan Bates, Christine Stanek, and staff for their loving care.
