December 23, 1938 - July 18, 2018
Martha Joanna “Joanne” Thornton, 79, of Medford, Oregon passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 surrounded by her four beloved daughters and grandchildren. Joanne was born December 23, 1938 to Wendell Oliver Davis and Martha Johanna Davis in Santa Monica, California. The family moved to Central Point, Ore. in 1950.
Joanne graduated from Crater High School in 1957. She was a lifetime homemaker and a full-time mom, devoted to her four daughters, and the proudest mom ever. When she was blessed with grandchildren she fell in love all over again. She enjoyed being a classroom and lunchroom helper and a team grandma. Joanne was a wonderful grandma.
Through volunteering and working at Grace Christian School and Cascade Christian High School she added more “grandkids” to her family, many who continued to lovingly call her Grandma.
Whether she was referred to as Joanne, Jo, Mom, Aunt Joanne, or Grandma she will be dearly missed by her daughters, extended family, and friends.
Joanne is survived by her four daughters, Teri Williams (Craig), Jeri Ann Miller, Sheila Johnson (Jerry), and Judy Fair (Daniel); six grandchildren, Michael Miller, Donald Jenkins (Sarah), Brandi Gorman (Schyler), Brandon Fair (Lauren), Kristin Hague (Billy), and Erika Clogston (Daniel); 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Graham Burnette (Bob); and brother, Steve Davis (Gladys).
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Roy Jenkins, Don Imhausen, and Jack Thornton; sister, Gwen Miller; and both of her parents.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. August 4, 2018 at Rogue Valley Christian Church 1440 South Oakdale Drive, Medford, Ore. Officiating will be her nephew, Pastor Steve Graham and grandson, Pastor Billy Hague. Guests are invited to a reception following the memorial service.
In loving memory of our mom,
Teri, Jeri Ann, Sheila, Judy
