Markey Lee James, 76, of Jacksonville, Oregon passed away June 29, 2018 at home. He was born November 4, 1941 in Hayward, California to Cecil Lee and Mildred Diane James.
Markey married Sharon July 22, 1961 in Reno, Nevada. He served four years in the Navy, based in San Diego. He was a heavy construction operator and gold miner. He enjoyed racing, racing, racing; deer hunting; and riding quads at the dunes. He was a member of Rogue Valley Racing Association and the Union of Operating Engineers Local 701.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay James; son, Bret Eugene James of Jacksonville, Ore.; daughter, Krista Lee James of Jacksonville, Ore.; sister, Juanita Gillaspey of Medford, Ore.; brother-in-law, Wayne Gillaspey of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Joshua King, Jacob James, Brittney Smith, and Robert Ziegler; and great-grandchildren, Saige King, Cadyn Smith, Alexis Smith, Khloe Smith, Madison Ziegler, Doni Ziegler, and Ronelle Ziegler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cecilia Kay James; son, Markey Jr.; mother, Mildred James; grandson, Joseph Ziegler; and father, Cecil James.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. AJ Collins will officiate.
