Marilynn Camille Clements

Marilynn Camille Clements passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Hearthstone Nursing Home in Medford, Ore.

Marilynn was born July 28, 1922, to Gladys and Jesse Carlock in Ysleta (El Paso), Texas. She attended Austin High School in El Paso where she met the love of her life, Tom Clements. After high school she attended Texas Western College in El Paso for one year, where she majored in English. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Her second year of college was at Santa Barbara College in Santa Barbara, Calif.

On September 18, 1942, she married Tom at The Wee Kirk O' the Heather Chapel at Forest Lawn in Glendale, Calif. She lived in El Paso while Tom was away in Europe during WWII. They had two daughters, Carolyn Camille and Marilynn Lee "Marilee". In 1950 they moved to Santa Barbara, Calif. In 1952 they moved to England for one year (Korean War), and then in 1953 they moved back to Santa Barbara. She went to work for Sunkist in 1955. In 1959 the family moved to Garden Grove, Calif. She became the school secretary at Eisenhower Elementary School. In 1965 she transferred to Santiago High School as the office manager. In 1975 she became the secretary to the Business Manager of the Garden Grove School District. In 1978 she went back to the school environment as the office manager at Garden Grove High School. She retired in 1981 after working for the Garden Grove School District for 22 years.

In 1981, after retirement, she and Tom relocated to Medford, Ore., to be near their family. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. She adored her family and especially her two granddaughters, Shelley and Tessie. She loved to go out to lunch, movies, Britt, community concerts, family campouts, gardening, and painting. She painted the most beautiful roses. After moving to Medford she became a very active member of the United Methodist Women at the First United Methodist Church in Medford. She became ill in 1999 and spent the last 13 years of her life at the Hearthstone Skilled Nursing Facility. As her family, we want to thank everyone at Hearthstone for the wonderful care and love they gave her.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Clements (June 26, 1995); grandson-in-law, Paul Joseph Dinneen (March 8, 1996); daughter, Carolyn Camille Clements (August 10, 2005). She is survived by her daughter, Marilynn Lee "Marilee" Rupp (Lawrence); granddaughters, Shelley Lee Houdesheldt (Bruce), of Roseville, Calif., and Tessie Lee Humphreys (Jeff), of Portland, Ore.; great-grandchildren, Harrison Cole Houdesheldt, Quinn Rhys Humphreys, and Aiden Lee Humphreys.

The family will be having a private celebration of her life.
