July 13, 1934 - March 7, 2018
Louis “Louie” “Pete” Peters, of Eagle Point, Oregon, passed away March 7, 2018. He was born July 13, 1934 in Eureka, California, raised in San Pedro, Calif., and moved to Oregon in 1964.
Louie retired in 1992 after 39 1/2 years as a service tech with ATT/Lucent. After he retired, he worked part-time for awhile in the pro shop of Stewart Meadows Golf Course until his wife retired.
Besides his love of family and friends, he loved cars, especially the 1932 Dodge Vicky which he totally restored, with help, from the ground up and showed for several years. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He played ball until his late 50s, then took up golf, which he became pretty good at.
Louie never met a stranger and developed even more friendships when he and his wife started wintering in Yuma, Arizona.
Louie is survived by his wife, Jaren M. Peters, Eagle Point, Ore.; daughters, Robyn Paege, Turner, Ore. and Judy Smurzynski (Tom), Central Point, Ore.; son, Russell Wimmer (Chris), Medford, Ore.; sister, Roylene “Sis” Hanks, Covina, Calif.; brother, Micheal Hanks (Cheryl) of Richmond, Calif.; granddaughters, Monica Prins (Damon), Angels Camp, Calif., Mallory Hays (Grant), Medford, Ore., Emily Wimmer, Medford, Ore., and Jamie Wimmer, Portland, Ore.; grandsons; Joseph Paege, Albany, Ore. and Jake Wimmer, Talent, Ore.; great-grandsons, Peter and Jackson Prins, Angels Camp, Calif.; brother-in-law, Colin McCoy (Christine), Eagle Point, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews throughout Oregon and California.
Louie, you will be forever missed and remembered as the wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend you were.
A celebration of Louie’s life will be held sometime later this year.
