Linda Margaret Sanders

May 14, 1944-June 20, 2009

Our dear Linda moved on to eternity on June 20 after a very short illness. She was surrounded by friends and family. Linda lived her life with beauty and grace. She was a devoted grandmother (Grammi) to her six beautiful grandchildren, Charlotte & Colby Taylor, Isabel & Anna Duich, and May & Sam Uriarte-Sanders. She unselfishly loved her son, Jeffrey Taylor, her daughter-in-law Lisa Taylor and her stepchildren Kathleen Duich, Anna Sanders, and Joshua Sanders. She will be sorely missed by her brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Laura Berdeen and by her sister Joanne Berdeen. Her love for everyone knew no bounds but particularly for her husband John Sanders.

Linda was a retired financial advisor who lived her life with joy and zest. She traveled the world with John and recently completed a 7500-mile cross-country trip in her new Airstream travel trailer. She loved people and nothing gave her more joy than entertaining friends at her home in Ashland. Her door was open to all as was her heart. She had a passion for tennis and was looking forward to competing in a USTA regional tournament later this month in Bend. Among her many accomplishments, she was most proud of walking the Camino de Compostela from France to Santiago, Spain and completing the Portland Marathon twice.

Linda started her life in South Portland, Maine born to John and Irene Berdeen, who have preceded her in death. At the age of 12 she and her family moved to San Diego, California. She began her business career as a secretary with the FBI and as an Associate Vice President at Merrill Lynch. Before moving to Ashland she lived for many years in Laguna Beach, California.

Linda and John moved to Ashland in 2001. She so loved it and promptly became an active member of our community. She became involved in political campaigns, volunteered at the Ashland Food Bank, was an active member of her beloved church, Trinity Episcopal and was the Chairperson for the AmericanCancerSociety's RelayForLife. As with everything, she embraced new friends in whatever she did.

Linda died as she lived, with grace, dignity and at peace. Her family and friends are in shock but they are so grateful for having had the honor of Linda's presence in their lives. Her husband, John, is eternally grateful for the 32 years in which she graced his life. We have all learned from Linda and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Ashland, Oregon, on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in her name to the Ashland Food Bank, 2200 Ashland Street, Ashland, OR 97520 or Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach Committee, 44 N. Second St., Ashland, OR 97520.
