The graveside service for Leah Ruth Smith Moore will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Logtown Cemetery, Jacksonville, Oregon. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of her life.

Mrs. Moore, 83, of Central Point, Oregon, died peacefully in the loving care of her sister, Carroll and niece Deborah at RVMC July 12, 2007. She was born January 26, 1924 at (her paternal grandparents) William & Emma Smith's ranch in Ruch, Oregon to Clyde & Mildred Sweet Smith. She was the second of 9 children. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a descendent of a pioneer family who arrived in Southern Oregon in 1850.

Leah married Robert Starnes in 1944 at Camp Adair in Albany, Oregon. They resided in North Carolina and had one daughter, Rebecca. Leah later married Dennis R. Moore in 1964 at Yreka, California. They enjoyed a life with family and friends in the Rogue Valley.

Leah was a devoted wife and grandmother. She cherished memories of family times with her daughter and son in-law and grandchildren. Leah enjoyed her years as a beautician in Medford. Leah loved a weekend at the coast to cool off. She and her husband both enjoyed drives along the Rogue River, trips to Reno, as well as many dinners at Kim's and North's. Leah was a naturalist who frequently fished with her grandson, went rock hunting, tended her yard and was familiar with many species of birds. She always had a beautiful garden full of flowers and vegetables.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca and husband, Robert DeBoer of Tampa, Fla. Her grandchildren, Tamarah Lochner of Camas, Wash., Lezlie DeBoer of Tampa, Fla., Robert Walter Collins DeBoer of Vancouver, Wash.; great grandchildren, Madeline and Cole Lochner. Also surviving; her brothers, Stephen, of Shady Cove and Clyde Jr., of Spokane, Wash., Three sisters, Naomi Seals, of Portland, Ore., Catherine Kimball, of Jacksonville, Ore., and Carroll Webb, of White City, Ore., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis and her sister, Clara Killingsworth and brother, William Lewis
