The funeral for Lea Jenkins Zundel will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland. A private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore.

Mrs. Zundel, 82, of Medford, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at home. She was born July 13, 1925 in Paonia, Colo., the daughter of Anna and Chester Jenkins.

On November 7, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nev., she married August A. Zundel, who preceded her in death in 2006. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947 where they raised their family.

From 1977 to the early '90s she started seasonally at the Harry and David Corporation where she worked her way to a management position responsible for their largest preferred accounts.

Mrs. Zundel served on the Phoenix-Talent school board for five years and was active in the Parent Teacher Association. She also served as a member of the appropriations committee for United Way a number of years. She enjoyed music, sewing, gardening, traveling, fishing and camping. She loved to spend time with family, especially playing stand up string bass when they played music together.

Surviving are two sons, Robert "Chip" (Laura) Zundel of Ashland and Dan (Jill) Zundel of Talent; her daughter, LeAnna Sorenson of Medford; brothers, David Jenkins of Jacksonville, Ore. and Alvin Jenkins of Ashland, Ore.; two sisters, Roberta Amling of Brea, Calif. and Ethel Bokelman of Yorba Linda, Calif.; two grandchildren, Brett and Kacey Zundel of Ashland.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Maynard, Everett and Jack Jenkins.
