Larry Griffin of Gold Hill, Ore. passed away February 9, 2013, at age 74. He was the beloved husband of Sofia Griffin. They were married for 17 years.
Born in Medford, Oregon April 20, 1938 he was the son of the late Jeanette Dayton of Gold Hill, Ore. and Howard Griffin of Portland, Ore.
Mr. Griffin served as Master Sergeant, U.S. Army, through two tours during the Vietnam war, retiring from Special Forces after 20 years of service. He was the loving father of Jeannine Griffin and Howard C. Griffin, both of Portland, Ore.; grandson Spc. Larry J. Griffin of Fort Hood, Texas; granddaughter Megan Griffin of Hood River, Ore.; and three great-grandsons. He is also survived by his sister Julie Garvin, and half-brother, Everett Griffin, both of Portland, Ore.
The service will be held at the Chapel at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, Ore. Friday, February 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Following the service, friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of life at the Rogue River VFW, 410 E Main Street.
