Larrine Schwagerl

Larrine Schwagerl, 86, of Medford, Ore. formerly of Yreka, Calif., passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at Ashley Manor Brookhurst.

Larrine was born November 10, 1926 in Dunsmuir, Calif. to Clarence and Lillie Kinney. She grew up in Siskiyou County and graduated from Yreka High School in 1945. After high school she worked at Pacific Packing Co. where she met Leo Schwagerl. They were married August 3, 1946.

Larrine started her married life in Grenada, Calif., where her son, Gene, was born, then moved to Gazelle where daughter, Sharon, was born. Larrine and her husband moved to South San Francisco in 1953 for three years while Leo attended sausage-making school. A third child, Helen, was born there before returning to Gazelle, Calif. where she spent the next 42 years.

Larrine's years in Gazelle were spent raising her children and were filled with many happy and productive activities. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a 4-H leader for many years. She was very active in the Gazelle Grange and the Yreka Elkettes.

She and her husband were members of the Yreka Boat Club at Shasta Lake. Many summers were spent camping and water-skiing with family and friends. Larrine and Leo also enjoyed dancing and playing cards, especially Pinochle parties with friends.

Larrine loved to garden and always grew lots of flowers, Irises were her favorite. She took cake-decorating classes and made many beautiful cakes for her family and friends.

Larrine always had time for her family and anyone in need. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. We will always remember her great dinners and giving nature.

Larrine was preceded in death by her husband of 46 yaers, Leo. She is survived by her three children, Gene Schwagerl, of McCloud, Calif., Sharon (Arch) Brown, of Medford, Ore., and Helen (Richard) Horn, of Montague, Calif.; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma Schwagerl, of Yuma, Ariz.; and many dear nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration will be held by the family later in July.
