Kathy Alexander, 61, passed away June 19, 2013 in Salem, Ore. She was born April 22, 1952, the first daughter of William and Elenora Thomas.
She served as an Army nurse in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart during her service. After returning from Vietnam she began work through Bechtel Corp. This took her to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska; Norway; Germany; France; England; and oil platforms in the North Sea. Later, Kathy owned and operated Your DJ Service, a Medford events and wedding planning business.
Kathy met and married Dennis, now of Portland, in 1987. She is survived by two sons, David of Beaverton and Tyler of Portland; her parents; and two sisters, Bobbi of Colorado and Diane of Texas.
Kathy was a hard worker, learning to work early on farms in Kansas. She was independent and took up riskier pursuits like hang gliding. Along her life's path she made some mistakes, but she had a good heart.
Kathy enjoyed people. She loved engaging conversations with much laughter at local wineries. Toast her life with a glass of your favorite local wine.
Any donations in her name can be made to disabled veterans organizations.
