Joyce A. Olson died August 28, 2007, at her home.

Joyce was born on January 16, 1912 in Sutherland, Iowa. She moved to Medford in 1914, and attended first through twelfth grade here. In September, 1937, she was married to Harold Olson, and moved to the Portland area, where she worked for Meier & Frank as a buyer for 25 yrs. She also worked as a secretary at Good Samaritan Hospital for 10 years. She was also a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII, stamping out aircraft parts. She moved back to Medford in 2001, after suffering a severe stroke.

Her hobbies were playing the piano, gardening, and her favorite hobby was astrology. She also enjoyed traveling a great deal.

Joyce is survived by her two cousins, Ruth Herman of Medford, and Audrey Note Medford; three nephews, Jim Sevcik of Central Point, Robert L. Sevcik of Jacksonville, and Daniel Andrews of Central Point. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Olson, in 1979.

Arrangements by Perl Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Friday, August 31st, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations can be made to Rogue Valley Hospice. Service open to family members only.
