September 19, 1929 - May 26, 2018
John V. Watson Jr, 89, of Medford Oregon passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018. He was born in Medford, Ore. September 19, 1929 to John V. Watson and Leah (Kellogg) Watson.
John left high school at 17 years old to join the U.S. Navy. He served his country shortly after the war in the Seabees, a construction battalion stationed in the Pacific.
On December 7, 1950, he married Geraldine (Jerrie) Sue Harring. They were married almost 65 years, until her death in October 2015.
John retired from Western Beverage at the age of 55 and moved back to Medford in the 80’s after 10 years in Eugene. He and Jerrie were avid ocean fishermen and spent much of their time in Brookings, Ore. They also found the time to wear out two motorhomes traveling North America.
He enjoyed wood-working in his garage, making candlesticks, small tables, and small boats.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him.
He was a loving father to three children, Cheryl R. Leland, San Miguel de Allende, GTO, Mexico, Lisa K. Watson, Medford, Ore., and Michael John Watson of Addison, Texas; three grandchildren, Ryan A. Hampton, and Bailey and Jane Watson; and a great- grandchild, Ryan A. Hampton Jr. He is also survived by his brother, Randall Watson; and two sisters, Leah Ann Kelly and Mary Lee Lauchner.
At his request, there will be no memorial service.
