John Rex West, 81, passed away November 2, 2017 at Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. He was born January 9, 1936 in Grove, Oklahoma, one of 13 children to Henry and Alice Greer West.
He served in the Marines from 1954-1956. He married Diane Casey in 1971, acquiring two new daughters, Carol (John) Grow of Eagle Point, Ore. and Maralyn (James) Ayer of Creswell, Ore. He had two daughters from a previous marriage, Colleen (Joseph) Guarnera of Sunnyvale, California and Cheryl (Tim) McCormick of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He worked for many years at Marlin Boats in White City. In 1977 Rex and Diane bought the Brownsboro Tavern in Eagle Point and turned it into a hot rock and roll party place. In years to come they started a very successful plant business called Doveland Nursery, giving tours to people from all over the world.
Rex enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and salmon fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, four daughters, 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
At his request, no memorial service will be held.
