James Raymond Cox, 56, of Phoenix, Oregon passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on April 22, 2018. Born in Bozeman, Montana, James lived most of his life in Southern Oregon.
He was a 1979 graduate of Phoenix High School and attended the University of Oregon for a short time before finishing his studies at Southern Oregon State College, where he earned a bachelor's degree.
Most recently, James served as live-in caretaker to his 91-year old mother, performing the task with patience and kindness.
He is remembered by those who knew him for his gentle, low-key personality that was often punctuated by his mischievous chuckle. Lover of genealogy, eclectic antiquities, and an avid rock hound, he will most be remembered for his love of cats.
He leaves behind his mother, Georgia C. Cox; brother, Karl Cox of Laurel, Maryland; sisters, Janie Wickre of Phoenix, Ore. and Charlotte Cox, of Olympia Washington; a niece, Jennifer Wickre; and nephews, John Wickre and Andrew Cox.
James is proceeded in death by his father, Charles (Bill) Cox.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Glenwood Mobile Estates Community Center, 3431 S. Pacific Highway, Medford.
