Isabella Mary Burns



Isabella Mary Burns died peacefully at home in Ashland on July 16, 2008. A native of San Francisco, Calif., she was a graduate of the Journalism School at Northwestern University and the University of Paris. She volunteered for the Peace Corps in Africa before she started her career at the United Nations, where she worked as an editor in New York, Thailand, Iraq and Jordan.



She is survived by her husband, Abdullah El-Attrash, her daughter, Francesca El-Attrash, her sisters, Sheila and Deirdre Burns, her niece, Sarah Drescher, and her nephews, Joel Drescher and William and Max Thorne. In her memory, contributions may be made online to the ALS Foundation.
