Gordon B. "Mitch" Hibbard
March 29, 1933 - April 1, 2018
It is with painful regret that we must announce "Mitch", Gordon Burton Hibbard, 85, passed away in his sleep April 1, 2018 at Providence Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. He had been battling COPD, coronary artery disease, renal failure. His ultimate cause of death was hypoxic respiratory failure.
Mitch was born on March 29, 1933 in Roseburg, Ore. to Roy L. (1889-1984) and Vera M. (Roberts) Hibbard (1903-1991). He served in the US Armed Forces from 1950-1951. Later he worked as an auto/diesel mechanic. Mitch was a member of the VFW, FOE, Elks, and Moose Lodges in Medford. He lived in Medford, Trail, Shady Cove and Butte Falls, Ore. Mitch loved to hunt, fish, camp out, and enjoyed long drives out in the country with family and friends. He lived to brighten people’s lives with stories of his legendary travels.
Mitch is survived by two daughters, Cynthia A. Smith, Mitchele L. Nelson; and his extended family. A special thank you to Mitch's close friends: Frank L.Wigand, Lori Wigand-Brown, Richard W., Betty Shafer, and Donna J. Shroeder, and to staff members at Asante and Providence Hospitals.
