Georgia V. Coggins, of Medford, Oregon passed from this life June 24, 2018 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise, Ore. Though she lived in Medford her entire life, in her later years she enjoyed spending the summer with her son and family in the shadow of the beautiful Wallowa Mountains.

Georgia graduated from Medford High School in 1937 and married Leland Coggins in 1940. Their only child, Victor, was born in 1943. She loved being a mother and felt it was one of her greatest accomplishments. She worked and served alongside Lee, the love of her life, until his death in 1992.

Georgia was a kind, giving person who had a lot of love to share. She was passionate about serving her family and refused to say a bad word about anyone. She loved gardening and sunshine, and in later years, looked forward to watching the garden grow from her spot at the picnic table.

After Lee’s death, she volunteered for Food & Friends, diligently serving for 11 years. She even became their “poster child.” Delivering meals and visiting with the ‘old folks,’ many older than herself, defined the joy and gift she was.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Coggins; parents, George and Ada Handy; brother, Al Foreman; and sisters, Betty Neel and Frankie Long.

Survivors include her sister, Juanita Kelsch; brother, Robert Handy; son, Victor Coggins; daughter-in-law, Vicki; grandchildren, Mike Coggins and wife, Sabrina, Jodi Hepton and husband, John, Kreg Coggins and wife, Kimberly; and great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Benton, Jordan Hepton, Jake Coggins, Josi Coggins, Nicholas Coggins, and Sophia Coggins. She was devoted to her many nephews and nieces and loved them as her own. She always looked forward to their frequent visits.

A graveside service will begin at 10 o’clock, July 14, 2018 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery and will conclude at her family home at 2145 Crestbrook Rd., Medford, OR. Family and friends are invited to share in the celebration of her life.
