December 27, 1929 - September 20, 2017
George Edward Ebert, 87, passed away peacefully September 20, 2017 surrounded by his family in his home in Medford, Oregon. He was born December 27, 1929 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to Henry Joseph Ebert and Francis Ruth Klein.
His family moved to Rockaway, Ore. in 1943. George worked hard throughout his life to care for his family, often working two jobs in the early years. In 1970, he successfully opened an art supply and framing business in Coos Bay, Ore. and eventually expanded operations to Medford, Ore. After 27 years George retired and sold the store, now known as Central Art Supply, to his son. In 2000 George and his wife, Winifred served an 18-month temple mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippiness. During and before retirement George could always be counted on to lend a helping hand whether it was a building project or helping at the LDS church pear farm. George set a great example in life for all; his wife and children cherish the opportunities they had working with him over the years.
George is survived by his wife, Winifred Ebert of Medford, Ore.; 10 children, Holly Juttelstad of Tigard, Ore., Ed Ebert of Vancouver, Washington, Joe Ebert of Alpine, Utah, Jeff Ebert of Ogden, Utah, and Dan Ebert of Medford, Ore., his stepchildren, Elizabeth Admire of Sublimity, Ore., Deborah Byers of Round Top, Texas, Dan Cofoed of Selma, Ore., Vicki Nelson of Talent, Ore., and Don Cofoed of Bend, Ore.; 40 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Cliff Ebert of Forest Grove, Ore. and Ken Ebert of Medford, Ore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ebert and sister, Cathy Smith.
A funeral service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3456 Bellinger Lane, Medford, OR. All are welcome to attend and celebrate George’s life. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Salvation Army for the flood victims..
