Fred Orel Clasby, 92, of Medford, died Monday, January 24, 2011. No service is planned.
He was born on May 28, 1918, in Pueblo, Colo., and was known to his family as "Brick," due to his red hair.
On December 1, 1945, in Olympia, Wash., he married Eva Mae Howser, who preceded him in death. They were married for 52 years.
They moved to the Rogue Valley 38 years ago, after they retired from the bar and restaurant business.
He enjoyed working in his shop, sharpening clipper blades for vets and animal groomers. He liked watching sports on TV, and could often be heard whistling.
Survivors include a daughter, Janette Clasby, of Medford; a son, Wayne Nell, of Yakima, Wash.; brothers, Glenn and Nate Clasby, of Colorado; sister, Yvonne Edwards, of Colorado; grandchildren, Brittney Monaco, of Medford, Ashley Clasby, of Jacksonville, Waynna Nell, Jeff Nell, Jolene Nell, all of Yakima, Wash., Michael Nell, of Boise, Idaho, Jay Nell, of East Wenatchee, Wash.; and 11 great-grandchildren. His son, Gordon Dale Nell, died in 2009, and his son, Gordon Wayne Clasby, died in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mae; and four brothers and four sisters.
