Frank Calmer of Sams Valley passed away from pneumonia June 22 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. Born July 7, 1929, in Rhode Island, he became a resident of Glendale, California in 1932. After high school graduation in 1948, he worked in construction until establishing a contracting business with his wife in the La Crescenta area. An expert builder, he constructed several houses by himself. The couple moved to Southern Oregon in 1968. In retirement, he delighted in constructing model aircraft and other skilled hobbies. He greatly enjoyed rural living with its ample wildlife.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara; his son, Brian of Beaverton; and grandchildren,Trent of Aloha and Brenna of Beaverton.
