Frances R. Teeters passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011, in Medford, Ore., after a short illness.
Frances Marion Reed was born Minette Biermann, March 12, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo. She was adopted at the age of six by Ruby Frances Reed and Thomas Marion Reed, of Hays, Kans. It delighted her that it made her a double Reed with two sets of Reed grandparents. In 1943, she graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College in Hays, Kans. During World War II she worked as a volunteer nurse's aide in one of the Hays hospitals.
Frances and Jack Teeters were married January 21, 1946, in Hays, and lived there until Jack finished his college degree. They moved to Medford, Ore., where Jack taught art and crafts in the Medford schools, in 1957.
Frances was a member of the Ascension Luthern Church in Medford for many years. She worked as a volunteer in various church and civic projects, including FISH and Project Misdemeanant. She also volunteered as a driver to get cancer patients to appointments for nearly 25 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Kay Teeters, and her partner, Cindy Witt, both of San Diego, Calif.; and a son, Mark Teeters, of Medford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Teeters, who died in 2001; and a daughter, Jan Teeters.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 3, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2617 E. Barnett Road, Medford, Ore.
