Faye I. Mitchem, 86, entered the kingdom of her Lord and Savior on October 25, 2011, at her home in Trail, Ore., after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born July 8, 1925, to John and Thelma Malicoat, in Springfield, Mo.
Faye finished high school in Springfield, Mo., in May 1938 and had various jobs until 1952, when she was accepted into civil service ward for the federal government at Fort Lewis Army base at Tacoma, Wash. She held jobs such as shipping clerk, supply clerk, accounting and financing, purchasing agent, contract administration, procurement supervisor and contracting officer. Faye received several outstanding awards while serving on military bases during her 30 years of service.
Faye had a love for sewing, cooking, antiques, traveling in RV's to the coast, watching waves come in on the beach, eating out at a good steak house and home made pancakes with fresh blue berries and ice cream on top.
Faye was preceded in death by her three children, John T. Turner, Robert Turner and Linda Talmant, from a previous husband. She is survived by her loving husband, Lester H. (Mitch) Mitchem; granddaughter, Jennifer Masey; great-grandson, Frankie Rowe, of Reno, Nev.; three step-children, Rebeccaann Lott, Shawn Mitchem, and Mary Mitchem of Spokane, Wash.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 1, 2011, at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain, Jim Sheridan of Fair Oaks, Calif., officiating. Mitch would like to thank all his friends for their loyal support and prayers during his wife's illness.
