Ellen Brannick passed away the morning of Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at home in Medford, Oregon. She was born Ellen Marie Markham to Daniel and Grace (Mills) Markham of Rochester, Minnesota. While married to Thomas Brannick, Ellen moved to Napa, California where she worked at Napa State Hospital for 30 years and became the unofficial historian for the hospital. Ellen was well known in the California Mental Health System. She was the hospital’s Community Liason Representative when she retired to Medford in 2001.

With a master degree in physical education, Ellen always enjoyed sports. She was a reader, researcher, and collector par excellence of books, stamps, coins, postcards, and sports memorabilia. She was given a Life Membership in the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society. A continual philanthropist, she donated to many favorite causes including C.A.T.S., the Salvation Army, and Food and Friends.

Ellen’s name was included in Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who of American Women, and Who’s Who in Business and Finance.

Ellen is survived by her partner of close to forty years, Carol Brockfield of Medford; her brother, Willis Markham of Rochester, Minnesota; nieces, Jan Adams of Lincoln, Nebraska, Suzanne Graham of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Leslie Olsen of Houston, Texas; nephews, Paul Markham of O’Fallon, Missouri, Bruce Markham of Charleston, South Carolina, David Markham of West Des Moines, and Danny Markham of Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Richard Markham (Des Moines) and Stanley Markham (Houston). Ellen is remembered by many loving friends and co-workers.

There will be no memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to C.A.T.S. in Medford.
